Over the past few months, God has stirred in me a passion to see ordinary women do extraordinary things (however that looks in their lives) by saying “yes” to God over and over again.

Too many women believe God works in the “super spiritual” women but assume that could never be them.  They “follow” these gifted women and take tidbits from them, sharing their quotes, and reading their books. But it doesn’t dawn on them that they, too, could be plucked out of the status quo and used extraordinarily.  This upsets me.

They’ll even talk to me, amazed at how God is using me. Inside, I just want to (lovingly) shake them and say, “There’s nothing about me that’s special!!  There is just a string of ‘yes’s to God behind me!”

Friends, I believe there are no true extraordinary women. “Extraordinary women” are just ordinary women who say, “Yes” to an extraordinary God over and over again.

So I’m just getting this thought out there…

This past Saturday, I shared a “vision” with my husband and friend that God placed on my heart that very morning. I had been minding my own business, stewing about how easy it is for us to put other women on spiritual pedestals while we admire their stories from afar.

Too many women celebrate the supernatural God-experiences of others without imagining they could have experiences of their own. Many don’t realize they, too, could make an extraordinary impact, just as God designed them.

(Or maybe they already are, but undervalue theirs because of what it looks like.)

As I considered these things, suddenly, my mind was flooded with a radical, crazy idea! Frankly, I could never come up with it myself. I’m not that clever.

And I’ve loved Jesus long enough to know that when I have ideas I’m not clever enough to produce, it’s time to pay attention.

So, here it is: I want to have a women’s conference.

I want to have a women’s conference to passionately stir women’s hearts as mine has been.  I’m thinking The [Extra]Ordinary Women Conference where ordinary women see that God can use them for his extraordinary work…work that is beyond them but not beyond God.  I envision a conference that explores what the ordinary, everyday woman’s life is like when she says “yes, God” and steps forward, over and over again.

I want to gather a particular team of other women who also have a string of “yes”s behind them. I want a team who can testify and inspire and share action steps or tools for moving forward.

I believe God is waiting for women to ask him, “What next, God?” I want this conference to inspire women to ask this very question and to wait expectantly for the answer.  And I envision all of us ordinary women celebrating what God does differently in each of our lives!

Can you imagine these women–us, you, and me–displaying the power of the body of Christ so humbly and beautifully? Exponentially?

Can you imagine the impact on our culture? In the world? For his kingdom?

Finally, I long for the women to not just be inspired to see God do extraordinary things in them, but to use what they’ve experienced to inspire the NEXT generation of women.

Yeah, I have no idea when/how this will all take place. But friends, if you’ll pray for clarity and direction and opportunity, I’d appreciate it!   Thanks for allowing me to share with you. As I said, I’m pretty ordinary. But I most certainly believe in an extraordinary God who wants to show off his glory in extraordinary ways through ordinary me and through ordinary you.
